Administrative Lawyer at the Supreme Court
The primary task of the Supreme Court is to lead the application of law through guiding decisions. The Supreme Court is the final instance for civil cases, criminal cases, and matters that have been decided by the Court of Appeal. In addition to its main task as a precedent-setting court, the Supreme Court also examines cases regarding retrials, judicial errors, and restoration of lost time, as well as matters concerning extradition requests from other states and certain cases related to lawyers.
The Court aims to be a modern and attractive workplace with a particular focus on meaningful and developing tasks, individually tailored professional development, significant opportunities to influence routines and work methods, as well as engaging and developmental leadership. The Court actively works with organizational development. The goal is for employees to be involved and active in the development work.
Approximately 100 people work at the Supreme Court, of which 16 are judges (justices). The Supreme Court is organized into two adjudicating departments and a secretariat, which consists of three preparation units and one administrative unit with a registry office and archive, as well as other administrative functions.
Job Responsibilities
As an administrative lawyer, your primary task will be to handle administrative correspondence, public inquiries, and the administrative diary. You will also manage and present issues regarding disclosure and confidentiality and other administrative decisions, provide legal support for the administrative unit, and plan and participate in certain external and internal meetings and gatherings of the Supreme Court. The work is largely conducted independently but also involves close collaboration with, among others, the head of the Supreme Court's secretariat, the chief administrator, and administrative prosecutors. The position as an administrative lawyer provides valuable knowledge and experience of administrative work in a court. The employment is temporary (see below). The role of administrative lawyer is newly established at the Supreme Court, and the tasks may evolve during the employment period.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is qualified as a notary in the district court. You should be legally skilled and meticulous, with a high sense of responsibility and social competence. Given the nature of the tasks, an administrative lawyer should have an aptitude and interest in administrative tasks. The work involves extensive external and internal contacts and service, and therefore requires very good collaboration skills, sound judgment, flexibility, and the ability to work quickly while maintaining quality even under time pressure. It may be advantageous to have worked with administrative tasks during or after your notary service. Similarly, other relevant work experience after your notary service may also be advantageous.
To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means that you uphold democratic values and the governmental values that guide the operations of the Swedish Courts. We require that you follow applicable laws. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Other
The employment is temporary, for a period of 1 year as a special fixed-term employment. One position is available.
Attach your notarization certificate to your application if applicable. If you are currently completing your notary service, you may instead provide a reference from the court. Also attach your degree from the law program and any other certificates that are referenced.
To ensure an inclusive and fair recruitment process, the Swedish Courts apply competency-based recruitment. Our selection is based on the candidates' competencies and merits.
Before employment, the court may conduct a background check of the applicant.
We kindly but firmly request no direct contact with staffing and recruitment companies or sellers of additional job advertisements.
